About

Thanks for stopping by! I’m Georgina, the girl behind the blog. I have a strong passion for film and writing. As for my taste in film, I appreciate all genres (excluding teen dystopia), and especially enjoy the Old Hollywood classics. Though the majority of films featured on my blog are current feature films, I also take great interest in 1950’s cinema, animated films, French cinema, documentaries, Film noir and the crime/mystery genre. I especially admire the works of Hitchcock, Fincher, Winding Refn and Nolan. Television-wise, I currently enjoy watching House of Cards, The Missing, Doctor FosterThe Affair and Orange is the New Black.

Here, I will write honest, but ‘spoiler-free’ reviews on films, old and new, as well as predictions, lists and wonderful things that come to mind! Though if I reviewed all the films I watch, I’d be typing myself to sleep…

Feel free to comment, criticise, follow or even share my work, I’d really appreciate this as I’d love to hear your feedback! If you like what I do, and I’ve never heard from you, then be sure to say hello!

  1. Hi there! This definitely looks like a pretty fun reviewing blog and I’ll be sure to check out some of your reviews later on in the day. Would it be possible to add in a search bar for the site though? You’ve certainly got a lot of reviews here so it would help me locate certain ones. (Was going to look for Avengers and Man of Steel if you’ve reviewed them) If not, that’s all right, I’ll certainly be looking at the TMNT review. It has a pretty bad rep and a deserved one, but it’ll be interesting to see what you didn’t like about it in particular.

    • Thank You very much! I am not quite sure how to add a search bar, if you have any idea on how to, that would be much appreciated! Funnily enough, I recently saw ‘Man of Steel’, so I will definitely write a review soon!

      • Sure, it’s in the widgets section. You can get to it from the appearance section on WordPress. I’m not exactly sure how the layout looks for you since WordPress got a new layout about a year ago, but I opted to stay with all of the retro buttons, but if you see the widgets, then the search bar will be there. Widgets do slow down the site slightly so you typically don’t want to use all of them, but I use around 10 and the site is still pretty quick. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what you think of Man of Steel!

    • Thank You! Interesting choice of questions. Sadly, I don’t have a lot of time on my hands currently to make a whole post, so I have answered your questions here!

      1) I couldn’t possibly answer that!! Many. Though, “Rear Window” is in my Top 5…
      2) Once again, far too many to count. I can’t simply pin it down to just one or two!
      3) Zootopia
      4) Actors: Kevin Spacey and Steve Carell Actress: Grace Kelly (If she was alive.)
      5) Ex Machina
      6) Star Wars
      7) 2 years ago!
      8) Because I have a passion for writing and film! How about you?
      9) Oh, now this is a good question. It would have to be Oz, or even Hogwarts!
      10) I own DVD’s of the majority of my favourite films which I know I will watch over and over again. But, if I want to watch a film that I don’t own, it will be through either Netflix or online.
      11) Christine (2016)

    • Thanks so much for the nomination! Sadly, I don’t have a lot of time on my hands at the moment to make a post (due to exams etc.), so here are my answers!
      1. Favourite will always be the original, 1997 version.
      2. Ghostbusters, as cheesy as that sounds!!
      3. Adore the original Jungle Book (not the 2016 version…), Beauty and the Beast and Peter Pan.
      4. Zootopia – wish I had more time on my hands to go and see more! But won’t until the summer.
      5. Haha, there are many! You must watch several pieces of rubbish in order to seek the greats out. I’d say most of the worst films I have seen are unnecessary sequels, such as Ted 2, Son of the Mask etc. Not forgetting, Divergent… Worst film as of late – Pan (2015).
      6. Kevin Spacey and Steve Carell.
      7. Sure, the man is great! If not, I’d like Damian Lewis to play Bond.
      8. Well, there are many…but I do hold a special place in my heart for ‘American Beauty’ (1999) and Rear Window (1954) as I love to watch them over and over again. Any of the Hitchcock films too, as I just love re-watching his suspenseful masterpieces!!
      9. Least favourite: all of them! (Only institution that I have a lot against, sorry). Though, Deadpool was ‘slightly’ better than the rest.
      10. Batman (1989)
      11. Definitely Batman. Not a huge fan of Iron Man…

    • Hello! Great set of questions!! Best I’ve read yet. Thanks for the nomination too!

      1. Hitchcock – Rear Window!
      2. Belle or Snow White!
      3. Haha!! Good one. I’d have to go with Terminator 2: Judgement Day!
      4. Oh gosh, that’s a hard one, hmmmm… Lets see Batman take on Spiderman perhaps?
      5. Christine (2016) and The Incredibles 2!
      6. So many, but Ghostbusters is incredibly catchy!!
      7. The Victorian Era
      8. You tell me!
      9. The crew that made the film happen, and some of the people I adore…God knows, I probably wouldn’t be giving the speech sober, so something ridiculously spontaneous!!
      10. There are a lot of rotten apples out there, but Pan (2015) was the worst I’ve seen as of late.

    • Hiya! Thanks for the nomination. To save time, here are my answers:
      1. Those who promote positivity, and don’t constantly bash hate. Role models must be glowing, not dull.
      2. Neither, but if I had to, then backwards to fix a few things, so I can be fully content.
      3. Caribbean, Dubai and America. I would love to visit Singapore.
      4. Hard-working, and honest.
      5. The cinema is simply the best experience for the best films, and films that have something special to offer. And yes, DVD’s are the best, love collecting them + guaranteed quality (and you can watch them as many times as you’d like!)
      6. Pilot – Magic
      7. My Mum
      8. OITNB and House of Cards
      9. Oh wow…this is a hard decision. Probably a giant burger with everything in it, with sides of pizza, pasta, noodles and all sorts really. Would have trifle, chocolate fudge cake and clotted cream ice cream for dessert (all separately…)
      10. Snowboarding
      11. 5 actors: Kevin Spacey, Cary Grant (if he was still alive), Stanley Tucci, Steve Carell, Christoph Waltz. 5 actresses: Julie Andrews, Kate Mckinnon, Emma Thompson, (Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn if they were alive too!) and Julianne Moore.

    • Thank you very much, I appreciate that.

      1. Toy Story/Toy Story 2
      2. Monkeys, cats and bulldogs. (Can’t choose one…)
      3. The Kite Runner
      4. Hometown – Twenty One Pilots
      5. Haha, good question – Well, I always had a soft spot for Dash from “The Incredibles” when I was younger…
      6. Hmmm, I’m mixed views on this one. Sometimes, you just want to be able to talk to someone that doesn’t know you so well, as a kind of escapism. But personally, I’d rather have met the person.

      7. Sometimes, I’ll just walk around the house doing impressions of characters/famous people. My parents are used to it.

      8. I’m up to date on the news, but politics is a whole new kettle of fish. I understand parts, but you’d think the politicians are playing games half the time, you never quite know who to trust.
      9. A grown up.
      10. Batman
      11. “Girl, Interrupted” – loved it! A very interesting character study. Watch it if you haven’t already.
